  • McPherson High cross country and track standout Corey Long signed a letter of intent to run cross country and track with McPherson College on Tuesday.
Long ran three years of cross country for MHS and will be entering his fourth year of track this spring. His best time at cross country was a 17:03 and he earned All-AVCTL honors his junior year. He competed at state both his sophomore and junior years.
In track, he ran the 4x800-meter relay, the 1,600-meter and the two mile.
Long said he chose Mac College based partially on his familiarity of the area they would be competing on and his impressions of Bulldog coach Cameron Magnall.
“He’s a really good guy,” Long said of Magnall. “People have told me he’s really laid back and really knows what he’s talking about.”
Magnall is excited to have Long joining the Bulldogs.
“I think Corey’s a tremendous athlete that has a lot of upside,” Magnall said. “I’m really excited to see what we can do with the next four years of training.”
