The auxiliary women for the Moundridge Fire Department will host a chili dinner fundraiser on Saturday.
The dinner will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Moundridge Middle School. The dinner is by free-will donation only.
Firefighters with the Moundridge Fire Department will help serve the dinner, which consists of different types of chili, as well as carrot sticks and homemade cinnamon rolls. The dinner also will have a drawing for prizes, which include gift certificates and gift packages from Moundridge and McPherson businesses.
Tasha Dehoff, president of the auxiliary, said the money received from the fundraiser will go toward the purchase of new wildfire gear to be used on grass and field fires.
Dehoff said last year the dinner raised $1,300, which was used for the purchase of airbags. The airbags are used to lift heavy objects that may be crushing other objects or people. The dinner had 200 to 250 in attendance last year.
“I feel the firefighters work really hard for the community, and this is just our way of showing the community’s appreciation,” DeHoff said.
