McPherson Public Works is patching some road near the intersection of Simpson and Hartup.
The road near that intersection became uneven as the changes in weather throughout the year compressed and retracted the asphalt in the road, creating uneven bumps and cracks.
Public works engineering aide Richard Hayden said the bumps and cracks had caused some safety concerns earlier in the year.
“Kids during the summer would ride across the bump on their way to the swimming pool and get hurt, so we’re patching it up now,” Hayden said.
The finished date for the construction is expected to be early next week. While caution cones surround the work, neither street near the intersection is closed.
