McPherson College swept Ottawa University Saturday night at the McPherson Sport Center, with the men hanging tough to win 65-63 and the women winning 69-59.

Junior Adam Bruner had his second 18 point game in three days to lead the Bulldogs in the men’s contest, which was a tight one from buzzer to buzzer.

Mac College just edged out the Braves 34-28 after the end of the first half, thanks in part to 6-of-14 shooting from behind the arc.

The Bulldogs cooled off from distance in the second half, which allowed Ottawa to creep up on McPherson, but the first half lead was enough to allow the Bulldogs to hold on for the 65-63 win.

Bruner was the only Bulldog in double digits, though Samson Shivers and Darius Hill both were close at nine points.

With the win, McPherson improves to 9-14 overall and 3-9 in the KCAC.

The women’s game saw McPherson pull out to a nine-point halftime lead toward the end of the period after Ottawa briefly took control.

The Lady Bulldogs wouldn’t trail again, though Ottawa would fight back to within one with 8:20 left in the game. Mac College would recover from the 9-0 run and, once more, stretch the lead back out to double figures in the game’s final minute.

Kaylee Cramer led a trio of Bulldogs in double digits with 13 points. Bailey Brown and Ali Brewster both added 12 in the win.
