  • Zoning permits issued in 2012 for McPherson county saw a slight decline compared to last year.
    Kenneth Cook, planning and zoning administrator for McPherson County, reported 102 zoning permits were issued during 2012, with 110 issued during 2011. Of those permits, Cook said seven in 2012 were ag exempt, with 10 ag exemptions last year.
    Cook reported an increase in permits for accessory structures, such as garages or sheds. Rural customers were issued 41 permits in 2012, compared to 33 in 2011, and commercial customers were issued 16 permits in 2012, compared to five in 2011.
    Cook also reported an increase in public hearings in 2012, with 22 hearings in 2012 and 13 hearings in 2011. Cook said 12 of those hearing were special-use cases and five were for subdivisions. In 2011, four hearings were for special-use cases, and none for subdivisions. Cook also said the flow of subdivision cases varies from year to year, noting three subdivision cases were heard in 2010.
    In other business:
    • Tom Kramer, public works director, provided some quotes for pneumatic tire rollers. The rollers would be used in chip sealing for roadwork. Commissioners requested that quotes be acquired from other dealerships, in order to receive the best possible deal.
    • Commissioners appointed Linus Linaweaver to attend the next McPherson County Council on Aging meeting, in order to listen to any questions brought forth by the council.
