I really enjoyed the Jan. 26 Sentinel article about the VAAM “What McPherson Means to Me” photography contest. I've always been intrigued by what residents love the most about our hometown, and I can't wait to see the exhibit.
I feel like I should clarify that the CVB also has an annual photography contest called “What's Your McPherson?” that is completely separate from VAAM's. I don't want potential entrants to think they missed a deadline. 2013 will be our fifth year for the contest. We will begin accepting entries June 1, and photographers can enter up to 20 photos at no charge. The CVB offers a cash prize of $300, and entries are judged by a panel of three professional photographers. Top entries are featured in our annual calendar available in September at the Kansas State Fair and in various promotional materials.
I encourage everyone to get out and start snapping photos about McPherson and enter as many contests as possible.
