Central Christian College’s Chris Jones joined some very elite company Friday night at the Ed Pyle Sports Complex, as he eclipsed the 1,500 point mark in a 105-102 double overtime loss to the College of the Ozarks.
The Tigers had come into the game as winners of five straight, while the Bobcats were looking to break a two-game skid.
Central went on a 13-0 run in the first half to give them an 38-20 advantage as time expired in the frame.
The Bobcats fired back to start the second, however, and both teams traded punches throughout the 20 minutes, with a Taylor Accord three-pointer tying up the game and sending it into overtime.
The Tigers lost Jones and Kaelon Gary to fouls in the second overtime, which the Bobcats took advantage of and sealed the 105-102 win.
Jones had 27 points to lead Central. He came into the game just five shy of the 1,500 point mark. His 27 leaves him 16 points shy of Sean High’s career scoring record of 1,541 points.
Kris Quant added 21 points, while Mike Lyons added 16. Gary and Scott Brooks both had 10 points.
In the women’s game, the College of the Ozarks won 77-46. Central was without the services of leading scorer Brooke Rhodes, who was out with a knee injury.
Harley Pate and Krystina Powell both had 11 points for the Tigers in the loss.
