  • During the holiday break, maintenance staff of Moundridge Elementary School worked to install a Magna Wall. The goal was to surprise the students with the wall on their return from break.
The traversing wall has a magnetic, colorful surface that allows students to climb on the rocks to spell words and participate in other learning activities. It is about eight feet tall and 25 feet wide.
Many of the elementary students, parents and staff have been working to raise money during the last few years so that the climbing wall could be purchased. Fundraisers included selling coffee, painting curbs, collecting Box Tops and serving snacks at recreational basketball.
The wall will be used during physical education classes for both physical and mental exercises.
The school reports students have had a lot of fun and many students and adults have found themselves using different muscles when climbing the wall. One student came in the day after the wall was reveled and told Principal JoAnn Browne that they could barely move their fingers.
