The McPherson College basketball teams were swept by Friends University Thursday night, with the men dropping a tight 56-55 decision to the Falcons, while the women fell 72-50.
In the men’s contest, the Bulldogs held a 27-23 halftime lead, but a second-half slugfest ended with the Falcons outscoring Mac College 33-28 to claim the win.
The Bulldogs shot 18-of-51 from the field and only managed four three-point buckets on 14 shots. They did shoot 71.4 percent from the foul line, going 15-of-21.
Samson Shivers led McPherson (10-16, 4-11 KCAC) with 16 points, while Jake Reinhardt added a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Friends jumped out to a 37-20 halftime lead in the women’s game on their way to the 22-point win.
The Lady Bulldogs were cold from the floor, shooting 16-of-54 for 29.6 percent. They were 5-of-24 from three point distance. Foul shooting was a bright spot, as they hit 13-of-16.
Bailey Brown led the way for McPherson with 15 points, while Tayler Puttergill had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
McPherson is back home Saturday, as they host Kansas Wesleyan.
