  • For roughly three-quarters of Friday night’s men’s game between Central Christian College and Waldorf College, neither team had an advantage.
The first half ended in a 28-28 tie, with the largest lead by either team a five point Waldorf advantage with six minutes left in the period.
When the final buzzer sounded, however, the Tigers’ losing streak had extended to three games as they fell 66-56.
The second half started just as tight as the first, with the two teams trading the lead back and forth for the first 12 minutes. Waldorf’s Gunsby DeJohnett floated in a short jumper to tie the game 47-47 at the 8:34 mark of the second half. Jordan Nelson would get a layup that would put the Warriors up for what turned out to be for good a couple of minutes later, which sparked a 9-3 run that put the game away for Waldorf (10-14, 7-6 MCAC).
“They beat us,” Central coach Tony Romero said. “They out-coached us, they out-played us. It’s a disappointing game for us.”
The Tigers (17-8, 6-6) ended up shooting 21-of-53 from the floor Friday night, including hitting 32 percent of their three-pointers, going 7-of-22 from distance. Central hit 7-of-15 from the foul line.
Tiger all-time leading scorer Chris Jones led the way for Central with 13 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double. Kaelon Gary added 11 and Kris Quant 10 in the winning effort.
The Tigers have no time to dwell on the loss, as they host Bellevue University tonight, with tip off slated for 5 p.m.
