  • Judith D. (Snodgrass ) Jones, 73, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at her home in Dodge City. She was born on September 25, 1939 at Dodge City, the daughter of Earl Louis and Dorothy ( Lenz) Snodgrass. She married Max Jones on March 5, 1961. They had celebrated fifty one years of marriage last year. As a teacher in the Dodge City school system, she was honored to have taught at least one thousand students during her career of over forty years. She was an active member of the First Church of God for over sixty years, where she served on the music committee. She served for three years with the DCNEA Negotiations, was a delegate to Kansas National Education for five years, and served the DCNEA as president for three years. She served the Ford County Council on Aging as president, Meals on Wheels as president, was a chairperson for Meals on Wheels/fundraiser treasurer, and was a coordinator for the Kansas Teachers Hall Of Fame Convention. She was past president of Southwest Area of Retired Teachers, vice president elect of Kansas Association of Retired School Personnel, and was a District 4 director. She also served as secretary/treasurer for the Crestview Association. She is survived by husband Max Jones, Dodge City; one son, Douglas and wife Lisa Jones, Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter, Shawn and husband Bob Batman, Cimarron; one sister, Jewel Thoman, Dodge City; one brother, Lloyd and wife Susan Snodgrass, Wichita; four grandchildren, MacKenzie and McKaylee Batman, Cimarron, and Ian and Sarah Jones, Kansas City, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Leann Lacy; and three brothers, Larry, Lester, and James. Funeral service will be held at at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2013 Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, with Rev. Darrell Hendrickson and Rev. Kevin Clouse presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013 at Swaim Funeral Home.  Memorials are suggested to First Church Of God in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
