  • Both the McPherson men’s and women’s teams finished in fourth place during this past weekend’s KCAC indoor track and field championships.
The men’s team was led by Perry Joseph on the track and Derrick Toney out in the field.
Joseph grabbed a second place finish in the 60-meter dash with a personal record time of 6.92 seconds and also placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with another PR, 23.09 seconds.
Toney got a couple of gold medals from the meet, earning them in the high jump where he cleared 2.11 meters, an NAIA “A” qualifying standard, Toney also nabbed first in the long jump with his leap of 6.70 meters, a school record.
Arryana Barton and Sharica Pleasant were the top field performers for McPherson, while Aspen Frey did her fair share of scoring on the track.
As of now, McPherson has two athletes qualified for the 2013 NAIA Indoor National Championships, Barton for the women and Toney for the men.
For the rest of the squad, they get one more chance to punch their ticket, as the Kansas State University Open is this Saturday.
