The Central Christian baseball team split a doubleheader with Evangel University Saturday, dropping the series 1-2.
The Crusaders jumped out to an early 5-0 run in the bottom of the first inning and added three more runs in the fourth.
The Tigers were finally able score in the top of the sixth, as Troy Richter drove in two off a single.
Thomas Koop took the loss for Central.
Game two turned into a pitching dual, as the Tigers scored the only two runs in the game in the top of the third inning.
Central had five hits had held Evangel to only five, also. Both teams recorded two errors.
Central freshman Doug Gove got the win.
“We did a good job competing all weekend,” Central coach Justin Cunningham said. “Evangel did a great job on the mound.”
Central falls to 3-3.
