  • The Central Christian men and women both had rough days at home Saturday, with the men falling 78-76 in overtime to Bellevue and the women dropping a 96-52 decision to the College of Saint Mary.
    In the men's game, the Tigers had a slight 34-33 halftime lead and pulled ahead by 10 in the second half before the Bruins fought their way back and forced the overtime.
    The Tigers (17-8) prolific Chris Jones fouled out with two minutes left in the extra period, giving Bellevue the opportunity to claim the win.
    Central finished 28-of-63 from the floor 9-of-20 from distance. They hit 11-of-17 foul shots.
    "We are snake bitten right now," Central coach Tony Romero said. "We just can't seem to finish off games."
    In the women's game, the College of Saint Mary hit 17 three-pointers on their way to the 96-52 win over the Tigers.
    Central (3-23) shot 19-of-51 from the floor and hit on only 3-of-10 from three-point distance. The Tigers were 11-of-21 from the foul line.
    Central was led by Krystina Powell with 10 points on the night.
    "It was a tough game for us," Tigers coach Robert Lancaster said. "We just couldn't get much going on offense."
    Central is back home tonight as the Tigers celebrate senior night against Southwestern Christian University. Sarah Hawthorne, Chris Jones, Kaelon Gary, Jeff Jackson and Aaron Cannon will all be recognized in-between the women's and men's games.
    Tip off is at 5:30 p.m.
