Pianist Marcelo Lian will visit McPherson this weekend to work with the piano students of McPherson College. While on campus, Lian will give a masterclass and present a piano recital in Brown Auditorium.
The masterclass will take place on Friday in Hess Hall. It is free and open to the public. Lian’s recital will be at 7 p.m. Saturday in Brown Auditorium. It is also free and open to the public.
Born in Buenos Aires, Marcelo Lian started his musical studies at an early age guided by the pianist and pedagogue Nilda Somma. While attending classes at the Beethoven Conservatory he took part in several masterclasses given by well-known pianists. During his career Marcelo has been distinguished with several first prizes in piano competitions as well as scholarships.
He is a doctoral student at University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he studies under the guidance of Paul Barnes and Ann Chang. He will complete the doctorate degree in piano performance in May 2013. He is on the faculty at Peru State College in Nebraska.
