  • The McPherson County Noxious Weed Department is succeeding in removing noxious weeds.
In a report to McPherson County commissioners, Dan Schrag, director of the Noxious Weed Department, said the department has seen success during the last two years.
Schrag said the drought seen during the last two years has helped to reduce the amount of noxious weeds along county roads and outside contractors’ fields.
    Commissioners unanimously accepted the report.
    In other business:
    • Commissioners approved $1,971 for the purchase of new barricade panels. Tom Kramer, public works director, said while the panels don’t decay on their own, they’re often damaged by cars running over them or, in some cases, stolen.
    • Commissioners granted a request from Fern Hess, McPherson County Health Department director, to write off $1,814 in bad debt for September and $1,441 in bad debt for the December.
