  • A local group of women is planning to raise funds for cancer patients by hosting a public pajama party.
The Women and Children Combating Cancer will host its annual pink pajama party from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at the McPherson Opera House.
Tickets are available for $10 per person or $25 for a group of three. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance at McPherson Sunflower Bank.
Angie Timson, treasurer for WACCC in McPherson, said all donations and ticket sales will go into a grant for cancer patients within McPherson County.
Attendees are not required to wear pink pajamas but are encouraged to do so.
Goody bags will be given to the first 100 people through the door. Pizza will be provided by Little Caesars, water by Culligan and pampering services by Creative Hairlines. The McPherson Convention and Visitors Bureau will sponsor a free movie, “Freaky Friday,” for attendees, starting at 7:15 p.m. Freddies will provide frozen custard after the movie.
Timson said women who have struggled with cancer, or who have been touched by a friend or family member with cancer, will give testimonies after the movie. Timson also said a representative from McPherson Hospital will provide information about available cancer and testing services.
Timson said groups of two are eligible to enter a pajama contest, where the winners will receive a gift basket. At the end, a drawing will be held for a spa treatment day at Creative Hairlines.
Timson can be reached at Sunflower Bank, at 620-241-1220.
