  • MAC Wrestling Club dominates Newton Invitational

  • The MAC Wrestling Club participated in the Newton Invitational Wrestling Tournament Saturday, with a whole host of grapplers placing.

  • The MAC Wrestling Club participated in the Newton Invitational Wrestling Tournament Saturday, with a whole host of grapplers placing.
    Taking first place was Jase Fitzmorris at 6-and-under 52 pounds, Issac Ramsey at 6-and-under 55, Lorenzo Cruzen at 8-and-under 55 and Collin Pearson at 8-and-under 61 pounds.
    Also finishing first was Landon Frantz at 10-and-under 95, Gunnar Reiss at 12-and-under 96 and Kobe Unruh at 14-and-under 155.
    Second place finishes went to Alexis Smith at 6-and-under 55, Jaytin Gumm at 8-and-under 64, Landon Thompson at 8-and-under 70, Jonah Scott at 10-and-under 110 and Aaron Handlin at 10-and-under 120.
    Also finishing second was Lane Thompson at 10-and-under 130 pounds, Austin Eldredge at 14-and-under 95 and Luke Thompson at 14-and-under 120.
    Finishing third at Newton was Aiden Smith at 6-and-under 43 pounds, Jayden Carson at 6-and-under 52 pounds, Evelyn Bratcher at 6-and-under 58, Dylan Henrikson at 6-and-under 76, and Gage Holm at 10-and-under 61.
    Also taking third was Jaedon Bratcher at 10-and-under 67 pounds, Kade Goss at 10-and-under 120, Ben Hopkins at 12-and-under 92 pounds, Garrett Rausch at 12-and-under 120, and Ian Alumbaugh at 12-and-under 130 pounds.
    Fourth place finishes went to Logan Jackson at 6-and-under 40 pounds, Logan Peterson at 6-and-under 43, Nathan Stecklein at 6-and-under 58 pounds and Kelvin Peterson at 8-and-under 58 pounds.
    Fourth place finishes also came from Colten Eldredge at 10-and-under 155 pounds, Andrew Trowbridge at 14-and-under 85 and Ian Sinclair at 14-and-under 130 pounds.
    Two wrestlers finished fifth; Nathaniel Bratcher at 6-and-under 40 pounds and Jonah Bratcher at 10-and-under 70 pounds.
    The MAC Wrestling Club will be in action both Saturday and Sunday this week, as some of the wrestlers will compete at the “King of the Ring” tournament at Campus High School in Haysville on Saturday.
    Sunday, some of the first year wrestlers will be on the mat at the Novice Championships in Derby.
    Coming up on Feb. 24, the MAC Wrestling Club will be hosting the United States Girls Wrestling Association Kansas State Wrestling Championships at Central Christian College. Mat time is 10 a.m.
