K-State Research and Extension will host a no-till discussion meeting at 10 a.m. Feb. 26 at the McPherson Extension Office, 600 W. Woodside in McPherson. The discussion will center around “Tillage and Residue Effects on Crops and Soils and also Cover Crops.” DeAnn Presley, K-State Extension Soil Specialist will lead the discussion.
The goal of this group is for producers and landowners to come together to learn more about no-till farming. Participants of the group do not have to be engaged in no-till farming, but just interested in learning more about it.
A similar discussion group was started in Harvey County back in 2003, and was well-received by many farmers all of whom were not actively farming using no till practices. In fact, The variety of farming practices from the group proved to be a positive group trait that added to a lively discussion. The Harvey County discussion group is still actively meeting, and they have been invited to attend this discussion as well.
There is no cost to attend this discussion meeting, however it helps with room set up to know how many approximately plan on attending. An RSVP is greatly appreciated and can be done by calling the McPherson County Extension Office at 620-241-1523 or emailing Jonie James at firstname.lastname@example.org.
