  • It wasn’t her final performance as a Bullpup at the McPherson High School Roundhouse, but senior star Katelyn Loecker played as if it was Tuesday night, helping to lead the Bullpups to a 93-36 drubbing of Rose Hill.
The Pups (16-3, 9-0 AVCTL Div. III) were not to be denied Tuesday, blasting Rose Hill (7-12, 2-7) with a 27-3 run in the latter portions of the first quarter that the Rockets never recovered from. A 25-3 third quarter put the exclamation point on the 57 point win.
Loecker was all over the floor for McPherson, picking up a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds. She also notched five assists and three steals in the win.
Junior Abby Pedersen picked right up where she left off Friday night against Buhler, scoring 17 first half points on her way to 26, tying the career mark she had set against the Crusaders.
“When she gets going like that, it’s a sight to behold,” MHS coach Chris Strathman said of Pedersen’s shooting against Rose Hill.
Janae Barnes tallied up 16 points, just missing a double-double, herself, with 9 boards.
Strathman felt the win was a fine way to send-off seniors Loecker, Hailey Ruder and Taylor Scheidegger.
“All three of them played very well,” Strathman said. “It was good to send the seniors out.”
The JV was also dominating, winning 59-38. Paige Schmidt was the lone Pup in double digits with 10 points.
The freshmen won 58-40. All the scoring was handled by three players for McPherson. Ally Ulsaker dropped 23 on the Rockets, while Magan Alexander had 18 and Paige Schmidt had 17.
McPherson will wrap the regular season Thursday against Winfield and will be home for the first round of sub-state next week.
