  • Shirley Mae Bell, 79, of Windom, went to be with her Lord at 11:50 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, while in the company of family members, at McPherson Hospital, McPherson.

  • Shirley Mae Bell, 79, of Windom, went to be with her Lord at 11:50 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, while in the company of family members, at McPherson Hospital, McPherson.
    Shirley was born in Norton, Kansas on Aug. 7, 1933, daughter of Hazel Mae (Wheeler) Dusin and Jack Sullivan.
    Shirley attended the Penokee grade school and attended Catholic School, Hays.
    Shirley was a homemaker and was the owner and operator along with her husband Maynard of the Bell's Phillips 66 Service Station in Morland; worked for Swick Guth; was a care taker for individuals and worked in area nursing homes as a CNA.
    Shirley was a former member of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 24, McPherson.
    Shirley Mae Sullivan was united in marriage to Maynard Floyd Bell on May 25, 1951, at Hill City. Maynard died on Dec. 14, 1977.
    Surviving family members include her children, Floyd Bell, of McPherson, Martin Bell and his wife Nancy, of McPherson, Danny Bell, of Windom, and Pamela "Pam" Postier and her husband Richard, of McPherson; her brother, Richard Wheeler and his wife Cindy, of Hoisington; her 10 grandchildren, Kristi Clark and her husband Jeremy, Kimberly Phillips, Lyndon Bell, Lucas Bell, LeShell Carter and her husband Ben, Courtney Postier, Cody Postier, Jayme Gillespie, Tracy Morgan and her husband Danny, and Daniel Perkins; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
    Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Maynard Floyd Bell; a son Noel L. "Pete" Bell; and a brother Joe Sonntag.
    Friends are invited to call from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, with family present from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Glidden-Ediger Chapel, McPherson.
    Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26 at Glidden-Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas, with Pastor Chuck Baker officiating.
    Final resting place will be at the McPherson Cemetery McPherson.
