A trio of Central Christian College men's basketball players have been selected to the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference post-season honors teams just before the post-season tournament gets underway today.
Tiger all-time scoring leader Chris Jones, a 6-6 senior, picked up a first team All-MCAC selection. Jones is averaging 17.69 points a game for Central Christian this season on 56.7 percent field goal shooting. He has racked up 280 rebounds, 26 steals and 45 blocks in 29 games. He currently sits at 1,612 points on his career, according to the website, www.dakstats.com.
Named to the All-MCAC honorable mention list were Kaelon Gary and Mike Lyons.
Gary, a 6-0 senior, leads the team with 98 assists and 52 steals this year. He crossed the 1,000 point barrier on Jan. 11 against the College of the Ozarks and set a new Central Christian single game steals record Jan. 29 in a 79-77 win against Haskell Indian Nations University.
Lyons, who sat out the first half of the season, has come on strong since the start of 2013, averaging 12.75 points on 72.4 percent shooting from the field. He also averages 4.19 rebounds and 5.13 assists per game for Central Christian.
The 5-11 junior has racked up 505 points and 213 assists in two seasons with the Tigers.
The Tigers open up play in the MCAC post-season tournament this evening as the No. 2 seed in the MCAC South bracket.
Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m.
