  • A late comeback push from the Mac College women fell short in the opening round of the KCAC Postseason Tournament, with Southwestern College winning 57-50.
The Bulldogs trailed 36-27 after the first half and the Moundbuilders increased that to double digits after a mini-push by McPherson about halfway through the second half.
A 6-2 run by McPherson got the Bulldogs to within four with 1:49 showing on the game clock, but a trio of free throws down the stretch by the Moundbuilders’ Jessica Hobbs pushed the lead back out to 57-50.
McPherson was led in scoring by Chandler Short’s 11. She was the only Bulldog in double digits.
Hobbs and Jana Reichenberger both finished with 13 points for Southwestern.
Southwestern will now take on Tabor tonight at 8 p.m. The winner of that game will play either Kansas Wesleyan or Friends in the women’s championship Monday evening at Wichita’s Hartman Arena.
The Bulldogs end their season 14-15 and 8-10 in the KCAC.
