Dolores Maxine Mathes, 79, of McPherson, passed away at 4:05 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, peacefully, at McAllen Medical Center, McAllen County, Texas.
Dolores was born on Jan. 16, 1934, in Canton, a daughter of the late Jessie Leona (Brucker) and Edward William Wallace.
Dolores attended the Canton grade school and graduated in 1952 from Canton High School, Canton. She attended and graduated from the first class of the McPherson LPN School, McPherson.
She was a member of First Christian Church McPherson. She also was a member of the Mission Texas Red Hat Society, and served several positions with the FMCA Heart of America and Good Sam's Motor Home Associations.
Dolores was a homemaker and worked as LPN for Georges Nursing Home; as a medical charge nurse for Memorial Hospital, McPherson, The Cedars, floor nurse for Bethany Home and the Lindsborg Hospital as a LPN.
Dolores Maxine Wallace was united in marriage to Jack Wayne Mathes on Dec. 28, 1952, in the Christian Church, Canton.
Surviving family members include her loving and devoted husband of more than sixty years, Jack Mathes, of McPherson; her daughters, Debra Sheets and her husband Brent, of McPherson, and Sondra Frank, of McPherson; her sister, Dorothy Jean Hartman and her husband Kenneth, of Brandon, Fla.; her five grandchildren, Kimberly Veer and her husband Mathew, of Melville, SK Canada, T.J. Dearing and his wife Lindsay, of McPherson, Tommy Dearing and his wife Amie, of Maryville, Tenn., David Frank and his wife Natasha, of McPherson, and Charles "Bub" Frank, of Hays, Kan.; her six great-grandchildren, Garrett Veer, Kendall Veer, Tristan Olive, Dakota Frank, Kaylee Frank, Trace Dearing, and one baby boy on the way.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; her son-in-law Charlie Frank.
Friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at the First Christian Church, McPherson, with Pastor Lynn Scott officiating.
The final resting place will be at the McPherson Cemetery McPherson.
