McPherson Boy Scout Troop 133 held an Eagle Court of Honor for scout Ryan Fulcher on Feb. 24.
Participating in the ceremony were his grandfather, Gerald Miller, and his uncle, Richard Miller.
The Eagle rank is the highest level a boy can achieve in scouting. It requires advancement through all of the ranks and must be achieved before a young man's 18th birthday. To cumulate the advancement, the scout must plan, coordinate and carry out a community service project, which is approved by the Scout Troop adult committee.
Fulcher's project involved two separate projects at the Pheasants Forever "Uplands." Fulcher was joined by his fellow scouts and cleaned up debris and obstruction in the creek through the Forest Trail area, and worked on stabilizing and preventing erosion near each of the bridge crossings. In addition, they completed construction of trail pamphlet enclosures, and created trail maps and nature guides for trail users.
