Lydia Nell Strough passed away Feb. 18, 2013. She was 100.
Lydia was born Oct. 29, 1912, in Blue Rapids, to Clarence and Rosa Gentry.
Her parents, six sisters and three brothers preceded her in death.
In 1929, she married Owen Lee Strough in the Falls City, Neb., area. They had three children; David Lee, Suzanne and Dennis. David Lee passed away in 1957. Dennis passed away in 2000.
Lydia is survived by daughter Suzanne (Strough) Niemeyer.
Grandchildren are Michael, wife Cindy; Cindy Blagg, husband Dave; Daniel, wife Carol; David Lee Strough Jr.
Great-grandchildren are April and Nicholas Niemeyer, Stacy Blagg, Luke and Aerial Strough, Step-great-granddaughter is Aldie Nelson Sreet, and great-grandson is Kendrick Michael Niemeyer.
Owen Lee Strough passed away in 1991 after a long illness. Lydia was his in-home care giver.
Lydia was a member of Zion United Church of Christ (at that time Zion Evangelical and Reformed), where she taught Sunday school, was a choir member and belonged to Women’s Guild. She was an occasional organist, and enjoyed picking fresh flowers from her garden for Sunday morning service. She enjoyed playing her accordion in the area nursing homes. She was employed by Dr. Glen Gentry for many years.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be at a later date.
