McPherson High’s Mayce Nightengale finished 17th at the Class 5-1A state tournament Thursday afternoon at Wichita’s Northrock Lanes, the lone medal representative for the Bullpups.
Nightengale bowled a series total of 596, with games of 180, 204 and 212. Teammate Crystal Nutter finished at 32nd with a total of 538 with games of 175, 217 and 146.
Buhler’s Kirsten Allan placed first individually with a total of 706, bowling games of 269, 226 and 211 on her way to the gold. The top 20 individual bowlers medaled.
Augusta took the girls’ team title with a combined score of 2,546. Wichita Bishop Carroll finished second with 2,490, followed by Buhler with 2,443.
MHS’ Joel Morey finished at 58th in the boys’ competition, bowling a 538 with individual games of 197, 175 and 166.
Great Bend’s Daniel Herrman finished first with a 759.
Great Bend also took first in the team score with a 2,695.
