  • Elyria Christian senior volleyball standout Abby Fields will be sticking around the area as she moves to the collegiate level, as she recently signed a letter of intent to play for Tabor College this coming fall.
Fields was one of the reasons the Eagles reached the Class 1A Div. II state volleyball tournament for the first time this past season.
Fields, who is noted as possessing a positive attitude, received second team All-Wheat State League volleyball honors this past season.
"Abby is a talented athlete,” Elyria Christian volleyball coach Tonya Robertson said. “She definitely played a huge part in the success of our team this year. I am excited for the opportunity before her and look forward to seeing her mature as a player as well as in her faith."
The Lady Blue Jays are coached Amy Ratzlaff, who just completed her 14th season with Tabor.
The Blue Jays went 18-10 in 2012, including a 12-6 mark in the KCAC and a run to the league tournament semifinals, where they fell to Ottawa in straight sets.
