The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) has recognized four University of Saint Mary Spires winter sports athletes as All-KCAC Champions of Character.

The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) has recognized four University of Saint Mary Spires winter sports athletes as All-KCAC Champions of Character.

The student-athletes were given the honors for best exemplify the core values of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics’ (NAIA) Champions of Character Program.

The NAIA Champions of Character program honors students who display five core values: integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

Each season, coaches in the KCAC are asked to nominate one student-athlete from their team who best exemplifies those core values.

The winning Spires are:

Men’s basketball's Carson Long, a junior guard from Graham, Mo.

Women’s basketball's Tracie Weege, a senior guard from Baldwin, Kan.

Men's track and field's Omar Delgado, a freshman from Castroville, Calif.

Women's track and field's Samantha Winter, a sophomore from Omaha, Neb.

“We stress values at the University of Saint Mary, and we’re proud of our student-athletes who personify those values,” USM Athletic Director Rob Miller said.
