  • At 4:48 a.m. Monday, officers, EMS personnel, firefighters, deputies, a McPherson officer and McPherson EMS personnel responded to a report of an anhydrous leak in the area of Maple and State in Lindsborg.
Lindsborg fire chief Kent Ebling reported that the leak was likely caused by an attempted theft of the anhydrous ammonia for methamphetamine processing. The tank was found open, allowing a large cloud to form.
“It was a pretty substantial leak, that’s for sure,” Ebling said. “Probably the biggest one in Lindsborg.”
Ebling said given the early time of day, people were encouraged to stay in their homes until the cloud dispersed. No evacuations were made.
EMS personnel then went house to house to ensure residents were OK. There were no reported injuries.
“Fortunately, everyone was all right and we kept it in check,” Ebling said.
