Gladys Riddell Polson, age 99, widow of Chester W. Polson, passed away March 2. 2013, at her residence.
She was born in 1913 in McPherson. She lived in Leawood from 1969 to 2005. Prior to 1969, the family also lived in Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas. In 2005, she moved to St. Louis.
Mrs. Polson was a graduate of McPherson College, a member of Leawood United Methodist Church, Leawood United Methodist Women, Village Gardeners, and Kansas City, Mo., Branch of American University Women. She was a past director of East Central Garden Clubs of Johnson County.
Survivors include a son, Lee (Melissa) Polson, Austin, Texas; two daughters, Margo (Pat) Murphy, Dallas, Texas, and Nancy (Terry) Draffen, St. Louis; sister, Jane Leach, Hutchinson; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was the daughter of Mayme Gatz Riddell and Hugh Riddell, McPherson.
A memorial gathering will be at 1 pm Saturday, March 9, at Delmar Gardens North, 4505 Parker Road, Florissant, Mo. 63033-4266. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leawood United Methodist Church, 2915 W. 95th St., Leawood, KS 66206, in memory of Gladys Polson. Private family internment.
