McPherson Main Street will once again welcome the beginning of March with Irish cuisine.

McPherson Main Street will once again welcome the beginning of March with Irish cuisine.

The McPherson County Ulster Project will host its 2nd Annual March Madness on Main Street from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Attendees will be able to go to 10 different Main Street businesses and sample authentic Irish food.

The Ulster Project is an international organization that works to promote understanding between Catholic and Protestant teens in Northern Ireland.

Roberta Burghart, with the McPherson Ulster Project, said a divide still exists between the Protestants and Catholics of Northern Ireland, despite the Belfast Agreement in 1998 which ended most of the violence between the two groups.

In July 2013, eight teens from both Catholic and Protestant backgrounds will come to stay with McPherson County families for the summer. McPherson County Ulster project is still looking for two young men to volunteer to host teens this summer.

Tickets for Thursday’s event are $10 for adults, $6 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for children younger than 5. Tickets can be purchased at The Well, Home State Bank, The Main Street Office or St. Joseph Catholic Church until 4 p.m. Wednesday. Tickets also can be purchased from any of the 10 participating stores.
