The Central Christian College softball team opened up MCAC conference play Tuesday with a sweep of Haskell Indian Nations University.
The Lady Tigers took game one 5-3, then exploded for a 15-9 win in the second half of the double header.
“Both games were a team win as everyone contributed,” Central coach Chad Kerr said. “It feels good to be alone in first place in the conference, though we know it’s early and there’s lots of work yet to do.”
The Tigers had five runs on 10 his in the first game and plated 15 runs off 11 hits in the second. Infielder Samantha Wilson led the Tigers with five RBIs on the day.
Mallory Smith was the winning pitcher for game one, going all seven innings and striking out seven. Desiree Yandell won game two.
Central Christian (2-6, 2-0 MCAC) will be on the road Thursday for a double header with Hillsdale Baptist before returning to McPherson for a weekend series with Southwestern Christian.
