  • McPherson Middle School seventh grader Taylor Robertson is getting to be an old hand when it comes to the national Elks Hoop Shoot finals.
The 13-year-old is going back to the big stage for the third time after winning the regional competition in Denver on March 8. She completed 25-of-25 free throws in the 12-13 age group, picking up the David Baker Award for a perfect score and the George Klein Award for the top score in the process.
Robertson will head to Springfield, Mass., for the national finals, which will be held on April 20. The winner of the national contest will have his or her name inscribed in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Robertson advanced to nationals in 2010 and 2012, where she placed second and first, respectively.
Good luck wishes may be sent online at www.elks.org/hoopshoot/greetings.cfm. The messages will be collected into a book for Robertson.
