  • A new novelties store will move into an existing building just north of Inman.
The Stone Post Gift Shop, which will be east of Eighth and northwest of Old Highway 81, will offer a range of gifts and decorative items.
The McPherson County Commission approved a plat for the store at its meeting Tuesday.
Kenny Cook, planning and zoning administrator, said McPherson County Public Works will provide a temporary entrance into the plat, but no new roadways will need to be constructed for the business.
Cook said the shop is moving from their existing site south of Inman, west of Kansas Highway 61 on Fifth Avenue. Cook said the realignment of the K-61 affected the traffic the shop received, and the owners wished to move to a better location.
The plat is located within the county, but jurisdictional authority lies in the hands of Inman, Cook said.
    In other business:
    • Commissioners signed a contract with Claver Construction of Galva for county bridge and road projects.
    • Rick Witte, county administrator, informed commissioners of the potential need to widen or change the new handicap entrance into the courthouse, as the current entrance goes through the county clerk’s office. Commissioners will consider the request at a later date.
