Education: Some college
Experience: Four years on the Moundridge City Council
1. Why are you running for a position on local government?
I’m running for my second term on the city council because I feel it very important to engage in making a difference in the city you live in. I have lived in Moundridge all my life and enjoy the opportunity to serve the community.
2. What do you think the role of local government should be?
I believe the role of local government is to be the voice for the citizens to insure the needs of the community are met.
3. What would be your goals if elected to a position on city government?
I have several goals for my second term. First, I would like to get some more entertainment for the kids whether they are 1 or 18. I was very involved in getting a frisbee golf course here, and it has even been added to the schools PE curriculum. We need to be able to attract families to town by providing family-oriented activities. My second goal would be to strengthen and grow Moundridge to be progressive, but yet keep the small town appeal.
4. What do you think is the greatest challenge facing your community at this time? How would you address that challenge?
I believe the biggest challenge facing Moundridge is we need to update our aging infrastructure, while trying our best to continue to keep our taxes and mill levee one of the lowest in the state for a town our size. We have been very cautious with our money, which has put Moundridge in a position to be able to do this. I will continue to make sure that when we do spend money it is spent in a way to get the most out of every dollar.
