The Neighbor to Neighbor food drive wrapped up with an announcement from Kansas Secretary of Agriculture Dale Rodman that 58,000 meals were raised statewide.
The groups hoped to raise 50,000 meals by Kansas Agriculture Day, which was Tuesday. The donated meals will stay in the areas from which they were donated.
At the wrap-up event, Rodman and leaders from other state groups participated in a project where food was given to low-income children for the weekend. The groups packed 400 backpacks for local students.
The Neighbor to Neighbor food drive was just one activity conducted to celebrate Kansas Agriculture Week and Kansas Agriculture Day.
