The Bethany College men's golf team won the South Central Kansas Spring Invitational hosted by Southwestern College.
The tournament was held at Quail Ridge Golf Course (Par 72, 6,826) in Winfield on Monday and Tuesday.
The South Central Kansas Invitational was the first conference tournament of the year and marks the third consecutive spring tournament win for the Swedes.
The team shot 290 and 302 for a total of 592 over the two days, winning easily by 12 strokes over tournament host Southwestern College's (303-301) total of 604.
"It was a very good win for us particularly playing on Southwestern's home course,” Bethany coach Jon Daniels said. “Weather was still a factor but the golfers, for the most part, played well."
Sophomore Ben Johnson got his second consecutive tournament win (72-72), over second place Austin Hieb (72-75) of Dakota Wesleyan University.
All five Swedes placed in the top ten. Sophomore Matt O'Neill tied for third (72-76) and junior James Tisdale tied for sixth (72-78). Freshman Greg Miller and sophomore Jose Lelo de Larrea both tied for ninth (74-77).
The team will next travel to Newton on April 1-2, to play in the Bethel Invitational at Sand Creek Station.
