  • In honor of the important relationships Central Christian College of Kansas has developed with members of the U.S. military and their families, the College has announced it will grant financial support consideration to assist qualified active duty personnel, National Guard and Reservists who were affected by the recent U.S. federal government sequester.
Many military members from the Central Christian community have been significantly impacted by suspensions to their tuition assistance funds since the March 1 federal cutbacks.
“Central Christian is honored to do our part to help serve these outstanding members of the Central Christian family who have sacrificed so much for their country,” Central Christian President Hal Hoxie said. “As a retired Air Force officer, I know all too well the many sacrifices our active and reserve component military members and their families make every day to keep us free.
“We are very fortunate to have so many of these students in our classrooms. We will help these great men and women through these challenging times. It is simply the right thing to do.  Central Christian is absolutely committed to mitigating these hardships.”
Students in need of emergency funding consideration should first explore possible sources of tuition funding from these resources:
    • GI Bill, Post 9-11 and other Veterans Benefits – Military students should contact their education service office or visit http://gibill.va.gov/ to determine eligibility.
    • Federal Grants and Loans – Visit http://studentaid.ed.gov/ to find out more about Federal Financial Aid or visit http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ to apply and determine your eligibility; applications are currently available for both the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 award years.
Central Christian College assures its military students that the College will partner with and help each military member navigate through their various funding options. Students who are unable to fulfill their financial needs through the above resources should contact Rose Epps, Veteran’s Affairs Certifying Official (rose.epps@centralchristian.edu) or Kristen Beatty, Operations Manager, (kristen.beatty@centralchristian.edu). Either can be reached at 620-504-5140.
