  • Ag minute: Kan. cattle on feed down 7 percent

  • Kansas feedlots, with capacities of 1,000 or more head, contained 2.05 million cattle on feed on March 1, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, Kansas Field Office. This inventory was down 7 percent from last year. This is the lowest March 1 inventory since 1999.

  • Kansas feedlots, with capacities of 1,000 or more head, contained 2.05 million cattle on feed on March 1, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, Kansas Field Office. This inventory was down 7 percent from last year. This is the lowest March 1 inventory since 1999.
    Placements during February totaled 295,000 head, down 20 percent from 2012. This is the lowest monthly placements since June 1994.
    Fed cattle marketings for the month of February totaled 345,000 head, down 10 percent from last year. This is the lowest February marketings since 1995.
    Other disappearance during February totaled 10,000 head, down 5,000 head from a year  ago.
