Robert Delbert "Bob" Marston, 87, of McPherson, Kan., went to be with his Lord at 4:12 p.m., Thursday, March 21, while in the company of family members, at the Cedars Courts, McPherson.
Robert was born in McPherson, Kan., on Oct. 28, 1925, the son of Ada Melva (Shaw) and Delbert Ambrose Marston.
Bob attended Canton Grade School and graduated from Canton High School, Canton, Kan., in 1943.
He was a member of Canton United Methodist Church Canton, Kan. He was a former member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Canton, Kan.
Bob honorably served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and also in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War.
Through the years Bob was a farmer and was a grain elevator operator for the Canton Elevator for 23 years.
Bob enjoyed gardening and watching KU Basketball. Bob volunteered on the Canton Fire Department for many years.
Robert was united in marriage to Ruth Arlene Jahn on June 13, 1948 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Canton, Kan.
Surviving family members include his loving and devoted wife of over 64 years, Ruth Marston, of McPherson, Kan.; his daughters, Marilyn Balsam and her husband Dennis, of Lutz, Fla., and JoAnn Kraft and her husband Patrick, of Wayzata, Minn.; his siblings, Larry Marston and his wife Donetta, of Pratt, Kan., and Margaret Beagley and her husband Leon, of Holyrood, Kan.; his three grandchildren, Becky Kraft, of Minneapolis, Minn., Josh Kraft and his wife Christina, of Minnetonka, Minn., and Jared Kraft, of Milwaukee, Wis., many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Ada; sisters, Betty Williams and Sue Kohlman; brothers, William "Bill" and Donald "Bud" Marston.
Friends are invited to call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kan.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27th, 2013, at the Canton United Methodist Church, Canton, Kan., with Pastor Harry Christian officiating. Military Honors will be presented at the church by members of V.F.W. 2715.
The final resting place will be at the Canton Township Cemetery Canton, Kan.
