The Bethany Swede softball team swept Tabor College 9-1 and 5-3 Wednesday afternoon, picking up their first two KCAC wins in the process.
The Swedes jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning, though the Blue Jays closed the gap with a run in the top of the third.
Bethany (15-9, 2-0 KCAC) added another run to increase their lead in the fourth, then opened up the throttle for a five-run fifth inning. They added another run in the sixth.
Jennifer Garcia picked up the game one win, pitching six innings and striking out 10 of the 22 batters she faced.
Bethany trailed 2-1 before they had a three-run fourth inning in game two, taking the lead for good. Tabor closed it to 4-3 after the fifth, but Bethany added an insurance run in the sixth.
Hollind Englert took the game-two win for Bethany, pitching five innings.
