  • The Mac Wrestling Club had a successful showing at the District III tournament Saturday and the girls’ state championship Sunday in McPherson, a few first place finishes and 12 more wrestlers heading to the state tournament this coming weekend.

  • The Mac Wrestling Club had a successful showing at the District III tournament Saturday and the girls’ state championship Sunday in McPherson, a few first place finishes and 12 more wrestlers heading to the state tournament this coming weekend.
    First place finishes at McPherson High School Saturday came from Collin Pearson at 8-and-under, 61 pounds and Austin Eldredge at 14-and-under 95.
    Finishing second were Lorenzo Cruzen at 8-and-under 55 pounds and Landon Frantz with 10-and-under 95.
    Taking third were Jaytin Gumm at 8-and-under 64 pounds, Devin Frants at 10-and-under 85, Colten Eldredge at 10-and-under 170, Andrew Trowbridge at 14-and-under 90 and Ty Goss at 14-and-under 235.
    Landon Crews finished fourth at 10-and-under 67 pounds, as did Lane Thompson at 10-and-under 130 and Kobe Unruh at 14-and-under 160.
    Finishing fifth were Landon Thompson at 8-and-under 70 pounds, Kade Goss at 10-and-under 120 and Brynton Crews at 12-and-under 92. Michael McKinney finished fifth in the high school division at 285 pounds.
    Sixth place finishes were recorded by Logan Peterson at 8-and-under 43 pounds and Aaron Handlin at 10-and-under 120.
    A total of 12 members of the boys’ team will head to the Topeka Expocenter this Friday and Saturday for the USWA Kansas State Championships.
    They include Colten Eldredge, Goss, Unruh, Trowbridge, Gumm, Devin Frantz, Crews, Austin Eldredge, Pearson, Thompson, Cruzen and Landon Frantz.
    On Sunday, the girls’ USAW Kansas State Championships were held at Central Christian College, and Addie Lanning took first in the high school division in the 145-170 pound weight class.
    Azaria Pauls finished second at 8-and-under 58 pounds, while Evelyn Bratcher took third place at 6-and-under 58 pounds.
