McPherson High didn’t slow down after Tuesday’s win in the McPherson Invitational, as the Bullpups captured the Goddard Invitational Thursday afternoon.

McPherson, the No. 2 team in the preseason KTCA rankings, had a strong showing in both doubles and singles for the second time in a week.

Junior Dylan Stos took first in No. 2 singles with a 4-0 record, while senior Connor Schafer went 2-2 for fifth in No. 1 singles.

Both varsity doubles teams competed in the No. 1 doubles due to one of the teams being short on competitors..

The switch set up a rematch of Tuesday’s Mac Invite doubles finals with fellow Bullpups Max Pyle and Ben Davidson. Pyle and Davidson defeated the Hortons 8-4 in the finals to take first with a record of 4-0.  The Hortons finished at 3-1 for second.

McPherson has a week off before heading to Goddard once again next Saturday. This time, the field will include 16 teams, including Class 4A No. 1 Wichita Collegiate.
