Ramona June Tinsley, 84 of Wichita, died March 30, 2013, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Wichita.
She was born on Nov. 26, 1928, in Gem, Kan., the daughter of Wallace and Donnie (Howell) Bugbee. June graduated from Gem High School in 1946 and received her nursing diploma from Halstead Nursing School in 1950. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy and became a navy nurse during the Korean conflict. She also served as a nurse in McPherson and Hutchinson.
In June 1951, she married Elwood C. “Woody” Tinsley in Corpus Christi, Texas. They made their home in Canton and Hutchinson, before settling permanently in Wichita.
Survivors include her husband, Elwood “Woody” Tinsley, Wichita; one daughter, Vici (Eric) McClure, Brownsville, Texas; adopted son, Leonard DeZeeuw and his son, Aaron, Colorado Springs, Colo.; one sister, Phyllis Hunter, Tupelo, Miss.; and three grandchildren, Joshua McClure, Wichita, Gabriel (Julie) McClure, Austin, Texas, and Caitlin McClure, San Antonio, Texas.
A daughter, Lori Tinsley and a brother, Donald Jay Bugbee preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be announced for a later date in June. Memorials have been established with Believers Southern Baptist Church, Harry Hynes Hospice, Koinonia Senior Care or Whispering Eagle Ministries, in care of Olson’s Mortuary, Canton.
