  • Swedes’ Arakhamiya honored by KCAC

  • Laurentsi Arakhamiya, a junior from Minsk, Belarus, has been named KCAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week.
    The award is based on his performance March 25 to 31.
    The Swedes hosted Doane College on Saturday at Smoky Valley High School.
    In the No. 1 singles position, Arakhamiya defeated his opponent 8-2. Playing No. 1 doubles he and partner Michiel Van Den Bogaert were victorious over Doane, 9-7.
    No. 7 Bethany defeated Doane 9-0 to move to 12-1 on the season. Arakhamiya is now 7-5 as an individual, 8-4 in doubles.
    "Laurentsi played well against a tough Doane opponent,” Bethany coach Vic Bateman said. “We look for him to keep picking up his level of play as we enter conference season."
    The Swedes next host Hastings College Friday at 2 p.m. at Smoky Valley High School.
