  • Several area wrestlers finished strong at the state competition Friday and Saturday in Topeka, including a four-time state wrestling champion.
    Rhett Edmonson, McPherson, took the state championship in the 10-and-under 61 pound division at the Topeka Expocenter Saturday, as he dominated the competition.
    Edmonson allowed no opponent to score a point against him and pinned two of his opponents on the way to the championship, his fourth.
    He has placed at state all six years that he has competed for the Salina Kids Wrestling Club.
    The MAC Wrestling Club also sent a number of wrestlers to the state competition, with three earning medals by placing in the top six.
    Landon Frantz was the top finisher, taking third at 10-and-under 95 pounds. Colton Eldredge finished fifth at 10-and-under 170 and Kobe Unruh picked up a sixth place finish at 14-and-under 160 pounds.
    Additionally, Addie Lanning achieved All-American status once again, placing eighth at the USAW Women’s National Tournament in Oklahoma City on Saturday.
    Lanning competed in the junior division at 139 pounds.
