Judith Ann Shields (Thatch) of McPherson, died April 4, 2013, at Harry Hines Memorial Hospice in Wichita.
Born in 1937 to Dorothy and Roger Thatch of Emporia, she graduated from Marion High School in 1955, attended Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in Baltimore, Md., graduating in 1959. She attained a bachelor of science at Emporia State in 1975. Ms. Shields was a psychiatric nurse from 1976-1980 at the
Menninger Clinic in Topeka. She lived many places, experienced many wonderful things, was a lover and performer of music, as well as a talented artist.
She is survived by her three children, Bradley Williams of Chicago, Bryan Williams of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Janice Smith of McPherson. Judith had six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to invite friends and other family to celebrate her life from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 8 at the McPherson Opera House in the Grand Ballroom on the fifth floor at 219 Main St. in McPherson. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the McPherson Humane Society.
