  • MMS thinclads have strong showing at Hays

  • The McPherson Middle School seventh and eighth grade track and field teams had solid showings at the Falcon Invitational Thursday at Fort Hays State University.

  • The McPherson Middle School seventh and eighth grade track and field teams had solid showings at the Falcon Invitational Thursday at Fort Hays State University.
    The MMS seventh grade girls finished second with a total of 78.5 points, while the boys were fifth with 56.
    The eighth grade girls took first place with 88 points Thursday, while the boys were ninth with 24.
    Seventh grader Aislinn Hughes had a big day for the Bullpups, taking first in the 100-meter hurdles, the 200-meter dash and the 100-meter dash. Also finishing first in the seventh grade competition was the 4x100 relay team of Deven Cape, Andrew Powell, Forrest Potter and Darrius Armstrong.
    Cape had a couple of second place finishes, individually in the 200 dash and with Powell, Gunnar Reiss and Ben Nikkel in the 4x200 relay.
    Also taking second Thursday was Britney Brooks in the 1,600-meter run and the 4x100 girls relay team of Bailea Crist, Mandi Cooks, Kenzie Goering and Elle Barrett.
    On the eighth grade side, individual first place finishes were recorded by Morgan Howard and Andric McGill in the long jump and Kamryn Collins in the 100-meter dash.
    Also taking first was the 4x100 girls relay team of Collins, Sydney Ruder, Grace Huskoll and Rilynn Anderson and the 4x200 team of Huskoll, Anderson, Morgan Howard and Keyanna Wilson.
    McGill also took second in the long jump, while Ruder had a silver in the 100-meter hurdles and the 100-meter dash. Emma Ellet finished second in the shot put.
    The next meet for MMS is the McPherson Invitational on Thursday at McPherson Stadium.
