  • Sterling win streak hits 14 against Swedes

  • Bethany College found themselves in the path of a juggernaut called Sterling Thursday afternoon, as the Warriors swept the Swedes 8-4 and 13-2, keeping their win streak alive at 14 games.
    Bethany jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning, but Sterling responded with a four-run second inning, including a three-run home run from Anthony Feliciano.
    The Swedes (18-17, 8-6 KCAC) tied it back at 4-4 in the third, but two-run innings in the fourth and sixth innings to take the 8-4 win.
    Morgan Heiman was the losing pitcher, going three innings and giving up six runs on eight his. He faced 16 batters, walking two and striking out one.
    The Warriors raced out to a 9-0 lead before Bethany managed to get two across the plate in the bottom of the fifth inning. Sterling responded with a four-run sixth inning and held out for the 13-2 win.
    Clayton Cozzitorto took the loss for Bethany, pitching 3 2/3 innings and giving up eight runs on 10 hits. He struck out two batters and walked three.
    The Swedes return the favor Saturday, completing the four-game series with the Warriors in Sterling.
    First pitch for the doubleheader is 1 p.m.
